We ask you to please consider all these tips in preparing your taxes, but when in doubt, always take your questions to a tax expert. Make sure your accountant has accountant insurance, too!

1. Get yourself organized!
2. Accurately record your start-up expenses
3. Make sure you claim all your home-office deductions
4. Include your health insurance costs
5. Track your mileage for work related travels
6. Don’t forget to pay yourself!

If you follow these tips, your trip to your accountant will be much less of a headache than showing up to their office with a box full of receipts! Also, before you let any accountant look at your books for the year, make sure they have adequate accountant insurance. You likely won’t need to use it, but making sure it is there just in case is always a good idea.
