For some, March 20th is just another day at the office.  As a matter of fact, it is a day that should be mentioned and celebrated more often.  First of all, since it is the third Thursday of the third month of the year, it is actually the first day of Spring.  Secondly, commissioned by the General Assembly of the United Nations, it is International Day of Happiness.  Today is a day to raise awareness to the world that happiness is fundamental to human life.

Starting a new season brings new life; from trees and flowers blooming, to animals coming out of hibernation.  To us humans, International Day of Happiness brings new understanding of how important happiness is in our everyday lives. The important thing to do today is to give yourself some time and think about what makes you happy and why it is so essential to your well being.

Although happiness is different for every one of us, it is still vital for everyone to experience it.  While some of us may be satisfied with materialistic objects, it is important to find out the fundamentals of what truly makes you happy.   We humans are capable of extracting happiness from positive emotions, actions or expressions, not just objects. A common way of people recognizing this is being inspired by others who have responded to life’s challenges with grace and determination. This helps us understand that sad, painful, or disappointing events can actually have good outcomes or unexpected lessons that can be learned.

So if there is one thing you should do today, at the very least, Be Happy!
